Mario Sergio Salerno

A full professor of the Production Engineering Department of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (EP-USP) (2006), he graduated from this school’s Production Engineering department in 1979, has a master's degree in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro -UFRJ (1985), specialized in technological innovation and development (IDS, University of Sussex, England, 1986), and has a doctorate in Production Engineering from EP-USP (1991), including a period spent at the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy (1989). He also did post-doctoral work at LATTS / École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (France, 1996), and has a post-doctoral degree (livre docência) in Production Engineering from EP-USP (1998). He was a Director of the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (2005-2006) and of the Institute of Applied Economic Research - IPEA (2003-2004). He works mainly in the area of corporate strategies and organizations, work organization, industrial and technological policy and innovation and has had countless texts published in several journals in many countries. He is a consultant to several domestic and international entities and corporations in the areas of organization and development policies for production (industry and services). A CNPq researcher until 2003, as asked to have his grant suspended at the time because he was appointed to a Federal Government position at IPEA and felt this was ethically incompatible with being the recipient of a government grant.
